The Association of Professionals for the Promotion of Water, Sanitation, Hygiene, and Health & Safety

The Association of Professionals for the Promotion of Water, Sanitation, Hygiene, and Health & Safety is a registered association with registration number 287/G37/D14/1/VOL/T/T/BAPP of May 13, 2009. It was created in 2008 as Association for the Promotion of Health, Water, Sanitation, Hygiene and Safety.

The objectives of the association are

  1. To Promote water, sanitation, hygiene, safety,
  2. To health promote health as well and assist in disease prevention in rural communities
  3. To contribute to the realization of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)
  4. To sensitize youths against  the harmful effects of excessive alcohol and tobacco consumption
  5. To work with partners to realize water projects in rural communities
  6. To promote health and safety in rural communities

 So far the association has accomplished a number of projects

  • Screened and sensitize close to 2,000 people in different communities in the North West and South West region against obesity, hypertension, diabetes, alcohol and smoking
  • Sensitized several people against the prevention of coronavirus
  • Conducted sanitation and hygiene promotion activities in several social groups in Kumbo
  • Completed bore hole water project in mission quarter in Kumbo
  • Completed storage tank and extended water in Nkavikeng Kumbo
  • Designed, printed and currently distributing 1000 brochures  on the consequences of alcohol on  health
  • Conducted a survey of waste disposal practices in some health facilities in Cameroon
  • Distributed sanitary pads to 100 girls at Ichim Oku on May 28, 2020

Ongoing and future projects

  1. To conducted infection prevention and control, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) baseline assessment in the North West and South West regions of Cameroon
  2. To construct storage tank and extend water in Tadui quarter
  3. Continue water projects in other communities in Kumbo
